Earlier today, we had the privilege of partnering Sidley Austin LLP (Singapore) for a collaborative tree planting event along Braddell Rise, to commemorate Sidley’s 40th year in Asia Pacific. Among our esteemed guests were Senior Minister of State for the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Transport, Mr Chee Hong Tat, co-host Dr Cheng Tai-Heng (co-managing Partner at Sidley Austin LLP, Singapore), Sidley’s distinguished guests, and community partners from Bishan-Toa Payoh Town Council and Toa Payoh North Zone 2 Residents’ Committee. The 02 Scouts, who are celebrating their centennial this year, were also present to contribute muscle to the cause.
Dr Cheng Tai-Heng who is also an alum of the school, shared that the planting of trees through the 1823 Trees campaign in support of the OneMillionTrees movement to commemorate the 40th year of the company’s presence in Singapore is a symbol of Sidley’s commitment to the community, and presented a perfect opportunity to contribute back to the school, and to a greener Singapore.
Mr Yeo shared that RI is pleased to partner Sidley to ensure that Singapore continues to be a liveable and climate-resilient nation. RI believes that as the school starts the countdown towards RI’s 200th anniversary celebrations in 2023, it wants to make a clear commitment to an important cause – sustainability, through the 1823 Trees campaign.
SMS Chee added in his address that actions and policies reflect our values - Our cumulative strategies and actions towards sustainability will contribute to a better future, leaving a better, cleaner Singapore for all and future generations.
