"Come Heed the Call"
RI200 Time Capsule Launch
10:00 AM - 11:00 AM, 14 October 2023

On 14 October 2023, we concluded the year-long RI Bicentennial celebrations with the RI200 Time Capsule launch! We were honoured to welcome Minister for Education, Mr Chan Chun Sing, various partners, and Rafflesian stakeholders who played a part in the success of the RI200 celebrations.

The Raffles Archives and Museum curated a collection of 200 artefacts for the RI200 Time Capsule. These artefacts, curated from different points in RI’s journey towards the bicentenary year, offers a glimpse of this time in history to future Rafflesians. Participants witnessed the placing of selected artefacts into the Time Capsule by Mr Chan, Mr Bey Soo Khiang (Chairman of the RI Board of Governors), Mr Choo Chiau Beng (Past Chairman of the RI Board of Governors), Mr Frederick Yeo (PRI), Mr Dennis Foo (ORA President) and Mr S Magendiran (Advisor, Special Projects and Alumni Relations). In Mr Chan’s letter to future Rafflesians (the 200th artefact in the Time Capsule), he exhorts Rafflesians to answer a higher calling and to serve a wider cause to keep our colours flying.

The RI200 Stamp Mosaic Mural was also unveiled at today’s event. The RI200 Mosaic Mural is a tapestry that contains 4,500 photographs of students and staff of RI in 2023. Set against the backdrop of the RI200 Anniversary Stamp, it features the four iconic RI campuses and vibrant student life.

We would like to thank all guests who were present at the event. Moving forward, we hope that Rafflesians will emulate the school’s bicentenary ethos of Honouring the Past by Inspiring the Future and continue the work of becoming the Hope of a Better Age.
